Krav Maga Techniques: Street Fighting Combat

In a street fight, trained martial arts moves will rarely be effective.  Street fights are brutal and dirty.  If you are ever confronted by an attacker, the goal will be to survive, not demonstrate your skill as a martial artist.

There is a system of fighting known as Krav Maga that focuses on specific hand to hand combat techniques that can prepare you should you ever be confronted by a mugger on the streets.

Krav Maga techniques are simple and practical, designed specifically for deadly street fighting situations.  Strikes can be made with fingers, elbows, knees, and even the head.

The basic concepts behind the Krav Maga system are:

  • To not get hurt
  • To neutralize or render your attacker defenseless and immobile as fast as possible
  • To switch from defending to attacking fast
  • To be constantly aware of your surroundings
  • To use any objects around you for your advantage in the fight
  • To remove yourself from dangerous situations as fast as possible
Krav Maga is about getting out of harmful situations and defending yourself and your loved ones.

One of the most important parts of Krav Maga techniques is repeated practice.  By doing it consistently you will incorporate these defensive and offensive moves into your muscle memory, making them instinctive.  This way, should you ever be confronted with a real life situation, you will not 'freeze up'.

Krav Maga was developed for military use, but you do not have to be a trained soldier to learn how to use it.  You must simply train consistently, with good instruction from a qualified teacher.
